The newest wave of creative Flamenco energy: in collaboration!
Full theater production for this year's Minnesota Fringe Festival
" “Her Voice Rising” features an abundance of performance art through traditional flamenco dancing, guitar and spoken word. The guitar was endlessly impressive, with the intricate yet quick plucking matching the equally enjoyable tapping of flamenco dancing. The message of resistance through feminism, as well as standing strong in one’s culture despite hatred, is moving and thought-provoking. " -

"In a time when reactionary politics try to erase hard-won progress, this performance unapologetically turns up the volume on stories that matter. From the very first moment, the show demands attention. Through a masterful blend of spoken word, movement, and music, it lifts up the voices of women, immigrants, and BIPOC individuals with both ferocity and tenderness. The pieces are rooted in lived experience—stories of resistance, resilience, and reclamation—interwoven with flashes of joy that remind us of the full breadth of humanity behind every struggle. And then there’s the dancing. The flamenco is utterly mesmerizing: staccato footwork like thunder, arms that carve through the air like silk. The juxtaposition of power and grace was electrifying. Moments of salsa brought bursts of joy and lightness, without ever losing the performance’s emotional weight or purpose. Every step felt intentional. Every movement, a declaration. The guitarist deserves his own ovation. His solo performances were masterful. His playing elevated each piece, wrapping the dancers in rhythm and giving the audience moments of both stillness and awe. "Her Voice Rising": A must see." - M Casey Fringe Patron Review 5 Star ★ Review
I went into this knowing next to nothing about Flamenco and it was the most expansive and enticing introduction. If you've ever stomped your foot in frustration -- see this show! The elements are so simple, but the way they are used is so much more. I can't do it justice with my descriptions. I wish I'd seen something like this when I was a kid. I would not have understood most of it, but I would have loved every second and I think it would have made me braver both in terms of what mediums I was allowed to explore and what emotions I could get away with publicly expressing. -Laura Mullins Fringe Patron 5 Star Review ★

A Performance art piece about the border conflict between Mexico and the United States
This piece is a song for the plight and pride of immigrants around the globe, including the U.S., China, Syria, Honduras, Guatemala, Nepal, Tibet and other places. Whether they pull up their roots to flee war, the rising sea or drought, for religious freedom and freedom of speech, or simply to seek a better life, immigrants are the frontiers of civilization. They are a force of nature, like salmon, monarchs, trees, water, and mountains, moving with rivers, the earth and universe. Migration is the signature of life - no immigrants, no economy; no immigration, no civilization; no migration, no life. We are all immigrants.
